Pesticide Exposures and Rheumatoid Arthritis

SSS senior research analyst Aimee D’Aloisio was among the authors of an article in the American Journal of Epidemiology that describes an analysis of childhood pesticide exposures and adult-onset rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Using data from the Sister Study, researchers found that adult-onset RA may be related to childhood exposures to residential and agricultural pesticides, and that further investigations of lifetime pesticide exposure in relation to RA are warranted. The article was coauthored by researchers from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
