Cardiovascular Risks in Asians with Diabetes

SSS epidemiologists Andy Menke (first author) and Sarah Casagrande were among the authors of an article in Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice that compared cardiovascular risk factors in U.S. Asians to other race/ethnicities by diabetes status. Based on 2011–2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data, although non-Hispanic Asians had lower levels of adiposity compared to other race/ethnicities with diabetes, their adjusted levels of hypertension and LDL cholesterol were generally comparable. The article was coauthored with a researcher from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
