Blood BTEX Levels and Neurologic Symptoms in Gulf State Residents
SSS health researcher John McGrath is among the authors of an article in Environmental Research that examined neurologic effects of environmental exposure to BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) among 690 Gulf state residents. Half of the participants reported at least one neurologic symptom—likely driven by exposure to benzene or toluene. The other authors of the article are researchers from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, University of North Carolina, and National Cancer Institute.
