A1c, Fasting Plasma Glucose, and 2-hour Plasma Glucose in Prediabetes

SSS epidemiologists Sarah Casagrande and Andy Menke are the first two authors of an article in the Annals of Epidemiology that describes an analysis of data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to characterize the contributions of A1c, fasting plasma glucose, and 2-hour plasma glucose to prediabetes prevalence and how the contributions differ among population subgroups. Fasting plasma glucose was the largest contributor to prediabetes prevalence in the overall population. The article is coauthored with a researcher from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
