Social & Scientific Systems, Inc., Awarded Contract To Provide Clinical Research Support in Southeast Asia
(Silver Spring, MD, and Durham, NC December 17, 2010)—Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. (SSS), was recently awarded a new 5–year, $29 million contract (all Federally funded) with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Division of Clinical Research (DCR) to provide support for the clinical trials conducted by the Southeast Asia Infectious Disease Clinical Research Network (SEA ICRN), which includes sites in Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The network is a multisite collaborative partnership of hospitals and institutions in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
SSS will establish offices in Jakarta, Indonesia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; providing strong regionally based clinical research management support. Support for both the SEA ICRN and the Indonesian network will be led by SSS staff located in Southeast Asia.
DCR is responsible for conducting time-sensitive infectious disease research critical to the mission of NIAID and to the advancement of the HHS Global Health Agenda. NIAID is also committed to developing local independent research capacity through the conduct of collaborative research with DCR and local investigators as full partners.
